Things could be worse
After hearing Ishmael Beah speak all I think about is that when things are bad, they could be worse. Through all the things he went through he still managed to survive and has changed his life around. Ishmael's future plans are going to law school. He still has more than half of his life ahead of him and I could never even think about having to go through what he did at such a young age let alone having to go through it when I was twenty years old. When there is a tough time in my life all I have to remember is that we can get through anything. Having heard his inspirational speech, I will never give up when things are rough.

I really agree with this. The fact that he just kept pushing on and the amount of determination that he had was incredible. After hearing him speak I was very impressed. I think that too many of us give up when we think the worst has come but in reality, none of us can even imagine anything like what he went through. I really admire people like Ishmael and I dont know if he really realizes the impact that he made on our University last night but we were all touched.
